50 Years of LGBT Rights

Date:          18th September 2017, 7.30pm
Venue:      the back room of the Tiger Inn, Lairgate, Beverley, East Yorkshire, HU17 8JG

This year is the 50th anniversary of the Sexual Offences Act 1967 which decriminalised homosexual acts in private between two men over the age of 21. British Humanists have played a significant role in the development of LGBT rights, though much of the opposition to LGBT rights has come from religious interest groups. This is an area where Humanists have influenced society for the better.

Stephen Mirfin is the Co-chair for the LGBT Staff Support Network for Humberside Police and talked to us about LGBT rights past, present and future at our September 2017 meeting.

The above lecture was given by Peter Tatchell and hosted by the Sheffield Humanist Society in 2014.
