Hull and East Riding Humanist Group

A social group for humanists, atheists, secularists, sceptics and agnostics

18/02/2013
7:30 pmto9:00 pm

We took the decision to cancel the meeting on 21st January because of the bad weather but we will be having the intended discussion on 18th February instead.

2012 saw the long awaited discovery of the Higgs Boson at the Large Hadron Collider but ended with some critical comments from Peter Higgs directed at Vice-President of the British Humanist Association, Richard Dawkins. In an interview with a Spanish newspaper, Higgs claimed that Dawkin’s was a kind of fundamentalist and that he agreed with those who found Dawkins’ approach to religion “embarrassing”. Another physicist, Jim Al-Kalili is the new president of the British Humanist Association and described himself as a “cuddly atheist” in the press a few days before the Higgs story.  The next meeting of the Hull and East Riding Humanist Group will be a discussion about the differing approaches humanists take to other peoples beliefs and an opportunity to assess both. We will be meeting in the back room of The Tiger Inn, Lairgate, Beverley, East Yorkshire, HU17 8JG at 7.30pm on Monday 18th February 2013. All Welcome.
